In-Person Voice Lessons in Asheville, NC

Singing Lessons, Voice Coaching & More!

What You’ll Learn in Our Asheville Voice Lessons

In-person voice lessons at True Voice can support a wide range of vocal and musical goals. Some students come in wanting stronger technique, more range, or better control. Others want to feel less self-conscious, prepare for a show, work through performance anxiety, or learn how to sing while accompanying themselves. Many students want a combination of all of these things.

During lessons, you may work on breath support, tone, pitch accuracy, vocal strength, stamina, resonance, articulation, and flexibility. You may also explore microphone technique, phrasing, emotional expression, harmony, songwriting, guitar or piano accompaniment basics, or performance preparation. The goal is to help your voice become more reliable, expressive, and connected to the rest of you.

You may learn how to:

  • Strengthen your breath support and vocal foundation

  • Extend your range without forcing or straining

  • Improve tone, resonance, pitch, and vocal control

  • Sing with more ease, confidence, and stamina

  • Prepare for auditions, open mics, performances, or recording

  • Use a microphone and professional sound system with more confidence

  • Gain somatic awareness and Reduce tension that may be limiting your sound

  • Explore songwriting, harmony, improvisation, or accompaniment

  • Connect technique with emotional expression and stage presence

  • Feel more comfortable singing in front of others

A Space to Practice Performance, Not Just Technique

A strong voice is not only about singing the right notes. It is also about communicating, connecting, and feeling present while you sing. In-person singing lessons give you a place to practice the fuller experience of using your voice, including how you stand, breathe, interpret a song, use a microphone, and share your sound with another person in the room.

At True Voice, lessons can also include performance preparation and stage presence support. This can be helpful for singers, musicians, speakers, actors, songwriters, and anyone who wants to feel more grounded when being heard. You can use your lesson time to prepare for open mics, auditions, public venue shows, band performances, or personal creative goals.

A Holistic Approach to Vocal Growth

Your voice is connected to your body, breath, emotions, confidence, and nervous system. That is why our approach to voice lessons in Asheville is both technical and holistic. We work with the practical mechanics of singing while also making room for the deeper layers that can affect how free, expressive, and safe your voice feels.

For some students, the work is about building vocal skill. For others, it is about releasing tension, building self-trust, or learning how to be heard without performing a version of themselves. Many students experience a mix of technical growth and personal discovery as they continue their lessons.

Real-Time Feedback in a Supportive Studio Setting

In-person voice lessons allow your coach to hear the full texture of your voice and respond in the moment. Small shifts in posture, breath, jaw tension, resonance, or vowel shape can make a significant difference in how your voice feels and sounds. When your coach is in the room with you, they can help you notice those patterns more clearly and guide you toward healthier, more effective choices.

This can be especially valuable if you have felt stuck, strained, shy, disconnected, or unsure of what your voice needs next. Instead of trying to figure everything out alone, you receive direct guidance and encouragement from someone who can listen carefully and help you move forward with more confidence.

Who We Work Best With

Adults

Online voice lessons can support adults who are beginning, returning to music, pursuing professional goals, or simply looking for a meaningful creative practice. Lessons are adapted to your experience, interests, schedule, and inspiration for wanting to sing.

Kids & Teens

Young singers can build healthy habits, musical confidence, and a stronger understanding of their voices in age-appropriate sessions. Lessons may include favorite songs, vocal exercises, performance preparation, creativity, and guidance for practicing without strain. AND some songwriting guidance if that is a focus.

Beginners

You do not need previous training, music-reading skills, a large vocal range, or confidence performing in front of others. Beginners receive clear, encouraging guidance that helps them understand the basics while making room for curiosity and gradual growth. And the opportunity to sing on stage if that is a desire.

Groups & Bands

Groups and bands can work on blend, harmony, arrangement, communication, performance, and the vocal demands of shared music-making. Coaching can be tailored to a specific song, upcoming performance, rehearsal challenge, or broader group goal.

Professionals

Singers, musicians, actors, teachers, speakers, and other professional voice users can receive targeted support for demanding schedules and specific performance needs. Lessons may focus on stamina, consistency, recovery, preparation, expression, healthy voice practices, somatic breath and awareness or sustainable vocal use.

Musical Theater

Prepare songs and audition material with attention to vocal technique, storytelling, character, phrasing, and performance choices. Coaching can support both virtual and in-person auditions, rehearsals, callbacks, and role preparation. Our musical theatre coach can help you with it all!

Couples & Families

Couples and families can use singing lessons to build confidence, learn harmony, prepare meaningful songs, or just to create a shared musical practice. Sessions can be adapted for different ages, experience levels, and reasons for wanting to sing together.
